At Lusungu, we share a belief that we can learn from and emulate the success of organizations similar to ours who are self-supporting and do not need to rely on donors. That is the direction we intend to take in the long-term.
Our current efforts at Lusungu are relatively limited and include:
- We need to buy a tractor to use at the Centre; we intend to rent the same tractor--on a per diem basis--to neighboring communities.
- We need a hammer mill to use at the Centre to benefit our nutrition program and clinic. Similarly, this will generate revenue from the community as they come to use it.
- Selling a small amount of excess farm produce
- Our block-making machine: make blocks and sell them to the community.
